Diane Main has been teaching for over fifteen years, in a variety of subjects and grade levels, finally settling on her true love, technology integration, four years ago.
She is a Google Certified Teacher, and she presents at conferences and conventions on technology education topics such as "free online tools for teachers" and "GPS and geocaching in the classroom." Diane also serves on the board of SVCUE (Silicon Valley affiliate of Computer Using Educators) and was a Mentor for the PBworks Summer Camp in 2009.
Diane's favorite thing about her technology lab classes is when the minds of both students and teachers expand to see new possibilities for their own learning. She teaches technology (Grade 1-8) at a private Christian school in San Jose, California.
She is a graduate student in the COMET (Cohort Online Masters in Educational Technology) program at San Diego State University, and has been enjoying expanding her own mind about technology and instructional design. She learned how to be a teacher many years ago at Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey).
Each summer, Diane takes a break from her computer lab classroom to mentor fellow teachers as the Blogging Peer Coach for IISME's Summer Fellowship Program. IISME (Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education) is a non-profit organization that places teachers in eight-week professional development fellowships at companies, universities, and research facilities through the San Francisco Bay Area. Diane enjoys getting outdoors (away from the computer!), geocaching, researching her British genealogy, taking pictures, and spending time with her husband and five-year old son. She also loves to sing, and has been caught on video singing with her son on many occasions. When she can, she travels to New Jersey or Britain to visit family. She always brings her iPhone, laptop, camera, GPS, and several other gadgets.
